Through the 90s David Dhawan was the ruling king of comedy. With Govinda as his favourite lead hero, and Salman Khan as a close second, Dhawan gave hit after hit even with movies that sometimes made no sense at all. Be it `Hero No 1`, `Biwi No. 1`, `Judwaa` or even the more recent `Partner`, they were all entertainers through and through.

In his son, Varun Dhawan, the director has found a perfect match between Govinda with his comic timing and dance moves and Salman with his perfect body and machoism.

`Main Tera Hero` (inspired from the Telegu movie `Kandireega`) is a typical Bollywood love triangle with a David Dhawan twist. Sreenath "Seenu" Prasad, played by Varun, is in love with Sunaina(Ileana D`Souza). However Varun has an admirer, the don`s (Anupam Kher) daughter Ayesha, played by Nargis Fakhri. Seenu pursues Sunaina, despite warnings that her lover/stalker (Arunoday) was unforgiving and it would have dire consequences. Things take a turn when Ayesha decided to make Seenu fall in love with her.

There is the usual David Dhawan fanfare – a courtship, a kidnapping, a rescue, some action but nowhere does the movie turn too serious or sway from its intended flavour.

For Varun, this should have been his big launch, instead of `Student of the Year`, because it seemed like he was comfortable in his shoes. Ileana was a revelation, as she played a sharp contrast to her role in `Barfi`. And Arunoday Singh, as Angad, gave a decent performance as the love struck villain. Anupam Kher was back in his element as a goofy gangster. Rajpal Yadav (as Peter) is back with a vengeance and Dhawan has used his talent well, and given him the screen time that he deserves.

Highly entertaining in the first half, `Main Tera Hero` slumps in the second. The jokes are slightly in-your-face and fail to make you laugh at times. It seems that Dhawan has tried to re-create the nineties magic by rehashing some of the humour that worked in that decade. The audience should not look for logic and reasoning in a movie like this, and it delivers on that account. But you would definitely want the movie to be a little more fast paced, especially in the second half. The humour also gets forced as we go along in the movie.

The cast of the movie have definitely been given leverage to play their characters with ease, and performances are good all around. They also seem to have had a lot of fun with the movie, especially Varun, as he looks adorable pulling faces and romancing the two lead heroines.

The music of the movie has been well received, `Palat - Tera Hero Idhar Hai` inspired from `Jahan teri yeh nazar` is foot tapping, and Jr Dhawan has definitely filled Govinda`s shoes with some great moves. Other songs too are entertaining but nothing worth remembering.

`Main Tera Hero` is definitely a one time watch and is sure to leave you amused and nostalgic of the 90`s humour; but that's about it.

The promo of the most awaited episode of KJo’s celebrity talk show is finally here
So our wait is about to get over as the most awaited episode of Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee with Karan 4 will hit the television screens this Sunday (April 6). Yes, two competing heroines – Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra will be sipping some steaming cups of coffee on that controversial couch together. Yes, you read it right, together.

While this will be Alia’s second appearance in the same season (last time she shared the couch with her Student Of The Year co-stars Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra), Parineeti on the other hand marks her debut on this coveted celebrity chit-chat show. And for those of you who have not followed Karan not-so-steaming episodes this season, it was Alia’s snooty comment about Pari that got these two ladies together on the show.

The makers have released a teaser of this episode, which gives us a glimpse of Mr Johar’s infamous rapid fire round. In the video, one can see Parineeti pledging, “Main jo bhi kahungi, hamper ke liye kahungi, hamper ke sivaye kuch bhi nahi sochungi.” Well, we aren’t surprised. After all, Karan’s coffee hamper is totally drool worthy. Or as KJo says, “Winning the Koffee hamper is as important as winning a national award.” So if Jr Ms Chopra ruffles a few feathers in the rapid fire she has issued her clarification right at the beginning, smart gal, hai na?

As the promo continues, KJo asks the Ishaqzaade actor, “How would you react if the senior actor made a pass at you?”, to which Pari replies, “depends on who it was.” And when the talented filmmaker suggested, “Saif Ali Khan,” Parineeti instantly says, “yes to everything”.

Then the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director’s radar soon shifts to his muse Alia. He asks the Bhatt gal, “So Alia, you have definitely a sense of possessiveness for Varun and Sidharth, so when these boys work with Parineeti, what does it make you feel?”

And Alia quite confidently in her trademark Kareena Kapoor Khan style quips, “I know they love me more than Parineeti.” Ahem ahem. There are gonna be some explosions in this episode, we are sure.

But we aren’t sure if these two competing B-town ladies will only shower hot blows at one another or will they also gossip about their contemporaries? Remember the famous Deepika Padukone-Sonam Kapoor episode from season 3 of KWK?

Anyway, watch the promo of the upcoming episode of Koffee with Karan 4 here and tell us if you too feel that Pari-Alia are just frenemies trying hard to fake friendship. Also don’t miss their cold shoulder and obviously uncomfortable body language.
Mumbai: After her successful tenure as an actor, a fitness expert and a businesswoman, Shilpa Shetty has now forayed into the jewellery business with her own company.

The actress along with her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, launched her gold bullion and jewellery company - Satyug Gold - here Wednesday.

"It is a very very proud moment for me because it is one of the most ambitious ventures that we have had and it is coming true today," Shilpa said.

"It sounds really unbelievable. This was the only area that we had not covered. So we are in the gold business now," she added.

Satyug Gold in association with the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association, will enable the purchase of 24-karat gold bullion at 37 percent less than the market price, Shilpa said.

It will have outlets in seven major cities in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

The outlets will feature jewellery designed by Shilpa herself.

Shilpa married businessman Raj Kundra in 2009 and they together partly own the IPL cricket franchise Rajasthan Royals. Besides, they also own a production house that produced the recently released `Dishkiyaoon`

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Tanishaa Mukerji Thursday launched her Facebook page, which talks about her childhood journey and also offers never-seen-before family pictures.

Tanishaa chose April 3 for the launch as she believes in the power of numerology, said a statement. The 36-year-old will also share her experiences and vibrant memories with her fans on the page.

"My fans have become my extended family and I want them to know the real me, and everything about my life. My official Facebook page is now live and I am happy I can now connect with my fans directly on this popular platform," said the actress.

Having acted in various Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali films, Tanishaa started her career with the movie `Sssshhh` in 2003 and later went onto work in Ram Gopal Varma`s `Sarkar`. She was recently seen in the controversial reality show `Bigg Boss`
Mumbai: `Fevicol`, the number she performed with Salman Khan in `Dabangg 2`, was meant to be her career`s last item song, but Kareena Kapoor has broken her no-item-song policy for the sake of friendship.

When her close friend Shabina Khan asked her to do an item song in `Gabbar`, which stars Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan, Prakash Raja and Sonu Sood, her immediate response was to say "no".

But Shabina, co-producer of `Gabbar`, requested Kareena to break her no-item policy.

When asked, Kareena said: "I did the item song in `Gabbar` for a friend. I couldn`t say no to Shabina."

According to Kareena`s friend, the actress was also tempted because it was the "Gabbar" producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali who supervised her look and presentation in the item song. And Bebo was very impressed by what SLB achieved with Priyanka Chopra`s item song `Ram chahe leela chahe` in `Ram-leela`.

Interestingly, Kareena also made a cameo appearance in Bhansali`s production `Rowdy Rathod`, which Shabina had co-produced. At that time, Kareena was all set to do Bhansali`s directorial venture `Ram-leela`.
Mumbai: Actor Imran Khan, who has lent his voice to a character in the Hindi version of animation film `Rio 2`, says he is not keen on acting in Hollywood as not many good roles are written for Indian actors there.

`I absolutely have no interest in working in Hollywood. I think you (Indian actors) get to be the nurse, someone who repairs computer or hero`s roommate, etc. I think they (Hollywood filmmakers) don`t write good roles for Indians,` Imran said.
However, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan have no qualms about doing small roles in a big international film.
Every actor will make a choice that is correct for them. The kind of roles that are offered to Indian actors are not very interesting. With no disrespect to anyone I think one gets to do a glorified special appearance. So no interest, I am very happy to work in India,` Imran said.
When asked if he would accept a decent role in a Hollywood film, he said, `As an actor if there is a very exciting role, I would be very happy to do it. But my observation, as I said earlier, is that those roles don`t come to Indians. They come to us when they need to sell their film in Hindi.`
`Rio 2`, the sequel to 2011`s hit Hollywood animation flick, will see Imran and Sonakshi Sinha featuring as the main voices of Blu and Jewel respectively in the dubbed Hindi version releasing on April 11.
Imran had seen `Rio` and found it fantastic, but dubbing for a cartoon character in a Hollywood film was a different experience for him.
`It was a little odd because normally when you are dubbing, you are seeing your own face. You have to match it to the timing. The first day I had to guess when to move my lips and when to speak so it matches correctly,` Imran said.
`Rio 2` is an adventure comedy set in the Brazilian city of Rio De Janeiro. The movie will feature the return of Blu, Jewel and their three kids who leave their domesticated life for a journey to Amazon rainforest
New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut comes back on the silver screen as Alka Singh in `Revolver Rani` in a mad but interesting avatar.

As the trailer suggested, this trigger happy political girl in a small town in India is in love with an aspiring actor, Rohan Mehra played by Vir Das. Kangana in her whacky accent and over the top clothes is a sharp contrast to her previous docile role in `Queen` and certainly raises the bar of anticipation.

The song has been sung by the veteran singer Usha Uthup and composed by Sanjeev Srivastava. The lyrics are by Puneet Sharma

Renowned actor director Piyush Mishra of `Gangs of Wasseypur` fame, Zakir Hussain and Pankaj Saraswat also play major roles in the movie which is set in Gwalior.

`Revolver Rani` has been written and directed by Sai Kabir Shrivastav and hits the silver screen on 25th of April.
'Shaitaan' actress Kirti Kulhari has shed her inhibitions and her clothes in 'Bandeya' which has telly actor Rohit Bakshi as her co-actor.

As the starlet is essaying the role of a hot girl in the film, she seemed to have decided to go the whole hog. This image will be a far cry from her upcoming film 'Jal' in which she plays a rustic belle who is all covered up
Salman Khan appeared before the Mumbai's Sessions Court yesterday for his 2002 hit-and-run case.

The court adjourned the case till April 28 as the prosecution sought more time.

Clad in a white shirt and blue denim jeans, Salman came to the court and sat on a bench along with his bodyguard and sister Alvira. He keenly watched the proceedings and left as soon as the court announced the next date of hearing.

The re-trial in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan was deferred till April 28 by a sessions court as the prosecution sought time to produce witnesses in view of police deployment on election duty. Investigating officer Rajendra Kane informed the court that police were deployed on election duty and hence they were not yet prepared to go ahead with the trial which was to commence today.
Sessions Judge D W Deshpande asked the prosecution to produce on April 28 the first witness who was injured in the mishap in which the actor was involved, followed by eye witnesses in May.
