The actor has apparently signed his next film, a pre-Independence era romance with Pallavi Sharda as his heroine

His last Bollywood outing Nautanki Saala fared average at the box office but we hear VJ-turned-actor Ayushmann Khurrana has signed yet another project. Helmed by first-time director Vibhu Puri (previously assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali), the film will star Pallavi Sharda opposite him.

The film is a period love story based in the pre-Independence era and is expected to go on floors in a couple of months.

A source says, `Vibhu was earlier slated to work on an Amitabh Bachchan-Rani Mukerji starrer that got shelved. This time on, he has found backing from producer Guneet Monga and has cast Ayushmann as a British boy.
The makers are keeping details about the film under wraps but we heard that it is a love story between a Britisher and a Maharashtrian girl.

The film will have inspirations from real-life characters. Mithun will also play a significant character.`

While Monga says, `Talks are on with them,` Ayushmann's spokesperson states, `He has liked the script and is in talks with the makers.
