Rani Mukerji rejects Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film

Rani Mukerji’s loyal filmmaker-friend Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has in the past, given her superlative performing space in Black and Saawariya, wanted her to essay the role of Mary Kom, the bio-pic that Priyanka Chopra is now immersed in putting on celluloid. Believe it or not, Rani who was the first choice for the film, lost the glorious opportunity by laying down unreasonable conditions. Sources say that Rani did not want to take a risk after projects like Dil Bole Hadippa and Aiyaa. So when Omang Kumar came to Rani with the offer to do Mary Kom, Rani politely suggested that Omang first shoot a few scenes with her. If she liked them she’d do the rest of the film. Finally Priyanka Chopra was signed for the project.
