Deepika Padukone beats Katrina Kaif, her films cross Rs. 500 cr mark

From her debut in 2007 with Om Shanti Om to her latest release Chennai Express, model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone has time and again proved her mettle.

Making it a first, Deepika Padukone surpasses her competitors, Katrina Kaif, who is at distant second with Rs. 319.63 crore in 2012 (Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan) and Kareena Kapoor at third, whose movies collected Rs. 263.15 crores in 2011 (Bodyguard and Ra.One).

In fact this year, Deepika has had three big releases till now - Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express.

She also has another biggie, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela up for release.

Interestingly, with the release of just three films, the actress is expected to aggregate a total of Rs. 500 crore becoming the first actress in a calendar year to reach the unheard of mark.

If that wasn't enough, with Ram Leela she might clock Rs. 550 or even Rs. 600 cr.
