With successive back to back hits in Malayalam and Tamil, actress Rupa Manjari is keeping her fingers crossed on her upcoming two films one of which features her as a construction worker.
Bangalore-based Rupa, who shot into the limelight with the critically acclaimed 'Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru', a romantic comedy, in 2009, directed by woman-director Nandhini, will be seen playing a labourer in the Tamil film 'Sivappu'.
The movie is directed by Sathyasiva and she plays the female lead, opposite actor Naveen Chandra from the Telugu film industry. Work on the movie is over and it is expected to be released soon, Rupa told PTI.
The story is about the life of construction workers in southern Tamil Nadu. Cinematography is by national award winning cinematographer, veteran Madhu Ambat.
The other upcoming Tamil movie is 'Illa Aanalum Irukku' directed by Deekay in which she stars opposite Kreshna and is shooting in Nainital.
"It is a comedy thriller. I play an urban girl. Oviya and Karuna are the other main characters. Each one is in their own way eccentric and my role is quite different from the others I have played so far."
"I can't disclose much on the movie," she said.
The crew is likely to be in Nainital till this month end and will wrap up the film in December. "It is absolutely freezing in Nainital. There are shoots in the morning as well as in the night. The weather is bad but the crew is just fantastic, focused on the job." she said.
This will be her fourth Tamil movie. Rupa's back to back hits were the Malayalam movie 'Mallu Singh' and 'Naan' in Tamil last year.
In 'Mallu Singh', directed by Vyshakh, she starred opposite Kunchacko Boban.
Rupa earlier did 'Tournament' directed by actor-director Lal in which she played a wildlife photographer and had popular Malayalam actor Fahad Fazil as one of the main characters.
