Ghai's new find Mishti on TV show

Actress Mishti, who has been launched by Subhash Ghai in Bollywood with "Kaanchi", will be seen on the small screen show "Ekk Nayi Pehchaan".

The show's episode, to be aired May 5, will feature Kaanchi as a girl from Uttarakhand who is in Mumbai to fight for her identity and save her village.

Her character will come face-to-face with the character named Sakshi, essayed by Krystle D'souza. They will meet at a market where some men are chasing Mishti to kill her.
Talking about her experience of working for this special sequence, Krystal said: `It was a wonderful experience to work with the 'Kaanchi' team. The sequence was quite interesting and considering our characters share similar ideologies, made it easier for us to enact this sequence better.`

"Kaanchi", which also stars Kartik Tiwari, released Friday.

Aamir Khan: Change will come when people at large will stop voting for criminals

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, on April 29, expressed sadness over the trend of political parties giving tickets to candidates with criminal background considering their ability to win seats but expressed hope that people at large would stop voting for criminals.

"As a normal Indian I am sad about this. I hope the political parties will rise above all this," the actor said, adding that parties are catching the right signal from the voters.

"Political parties give tickets to criminals because we vote for them," said Aamir, who has been taking up social issues through his television show Satyamev Jayate, said.

"Ultimately, these things will change as people at large will stop voting for criminals," added Aamir, who exercised his franchise in Mumbai last week, said.

Mumbai: Actress Sonam Kapoor Wednesday unveiled the latest make-up collection of L’Oréal Paris for the Festival de Cannes 2014. She is excited about flaunting the new looks on the red carpet at the fest, starting May 14.

London: Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock is reporteldy eying to play the role of sales executive Brownie Wise in a movie being directed by `The Help` helmer Tate Taylor.

The period drama, to be produced by Mandeville, is based on Tupperware Unsealed, a non-fiction book written by Bob Kealing, reportedly.

Taylor has been in talks with Bullock for sometime and she expressed her desire to do the film, but no official confirmation has been made yet.

The story revolves around Earl Silas Tupper, who developed Tupperware, and sales executive Wise who made it popular through kitty parties.

Wise was as popular as the product and was first woman to appear on the cover of Business Week.

But both clashed with each other and Tupper removed her, from which she could not recover.

 It was on this day 10 years back that choreographer Farah Khan`s debut directorial ‘Main Hoon Na’ hit the screens. She can only look back at her pool of memories with a smile.

‘Main Hoon Na’, Farah says, marked the first time that the film`s lead actress Sushmita Sen wore a sari on screen.

"This scene was the first day of shoot for Sushmita Sen and the first time she wore a sari on screen," Farah tweeted along with a picture of Sushmita`s introduction scene.

‘Main Hoon Na’ also stars Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi and Kirron Kher.

The film set the platform for Farah and she next directed the superhit ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007.

She is currently busy directing ‘Happy New Year’, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan.

Caught impromptu: Ranbir, Deepika dance to 'Badtameez dil'

They are Bollywood`s ‘once popular lovebirds’, but Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor neither seemed nervous nor uncomfortable in each other`s presence and proximity at an event here Tuesday. In fact, the two ended up doing an impromptu jig!

The actors were here at an Awards function to collect their respective honours. While Deepika received the entertainer of the year, Ranbir was awarded for being a Bollywood youth icon.

Before the request came his way, he was on stage with Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Soundarya R. Ashwin and Deepika, but as the song played on, Deepika was left alone on stage, while Ranbir vanished only to drag journalist Prannoy Roy. Of course, Roy ran back to take his seat, but Deepika and Ranbir`s chemistry worked up to create a picture-perfect moment as they she tried to give him cues of their signature steps.

They smiled, laughed, danced and seemed to have a jolly good time. They even pulled off some signature steps from the chartbuster, and Deepika seemed to know them better than Ranbir.

The duo`s off-screen chemistry got a new direction when they played on screen lovers for the first time in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, but eventually the two parted ways after a much-publicised affair.

However, ever since their breakup, they have maintained that they are still good friends. And from what it seemed at the event Tuesday, they mean it.

They last featured on the big screen in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, and will soon share the frame in a new project.

Saif Ali Khan experiments with Gujarati accent in Humshakals

The actor will not only be seen speaking in Gujarati, but he has also decided to add a comic twist in the film, said a source.

"Saif had to learn Gujarati a little more fluently, and since it is not that difficult a task, he started to talk to everyone on the sets in Gujarati," said the source close to the production team.

Co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Pooja Entertainment, Humshakals has been directed by Sajid Khan, known for making out-and-out comic content.

The film, which is releasing on June 20, also features Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Esha Gupta and Tamannah.

Katrina not doing 'Raees' with SRK

 Actress Katrina Kaif has denied being approached to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia`s `Raees`. There was a buzz that both the stars will be seen together again in the Farhan Akhtar production after `Jab Tak Hai Jaan`.
"I don`t know where this news has come from. There is no such discussion like that till now. There are three films `Bang Bang`, `Phantom` and `Jagga Jassos` that I am doing right now. I am in talks for two more projects which I can`t reveal," Katrina said.

"I feel for whatever films I am in discussion with a filmmaker it is not correct to talk about it unless one is doing it because if it doesn`t work out then it makes things awkward for the people and the project," she said.

The actress has delivered two hit films with Ranbir earlier in `Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani` and `Rajneeti`.

Salman Khan's 2002 hit-and-run case: Witnesses depose in court

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's troubles seem to be a never ending saga. The re-trial of actor's most infamous 2002 hit-and-run case started Monday in the Mumbai sessions court. The trial began with a number of witnesses deposing before the court. However, the actor himself was missing from all the action.

One of the first witnesses to depose in the court, Samba Gowda, said he had drawn panchnama of the articles seized by police on the day of the incident on September 28, 2002.

The witness told prosecutor Jagannath Kenjalkar that it was a big car involved in the accident and said police had reached the spot along with him. He further said the car had rammed into a laundry and its bumper had hit the shutter of the shop. The witness said he saw glass pieces, number plate of the car and bumper parts lying on the spot. These articles were seized by police and a panchnama was drawn by him.

"I can identify the articles collected by police from the place of accident," said Gowda, who hails from Karnataka.

Two more witnesses were discharged as they had admitted the panchnamas drawn by them.

According to the public prosecutor, although a list of 64 witnesses has been submitted by the prosecution, it would not examine all of them.

Earlier, the case was deferred by the court till April 28th, 2014 as the prosecution sought time to produce witnesses in view of police deployment on election duty.

Sessions Judge D W Deshpande had asked the prosecution to produce on April 28 the first witness who was injured in the mishap in which the actor was involved, followed by eye witnesses in May.

On March 26, three witnesses failed to turn up as they were either not available or untraceable making this the second occasion when the fresh trial has not begun in the case.

The Bollywood superstar is facing the charges of running over his Toyota Land Cruiser on people sleeping on a footpath outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one and injuring four others.

Jennifer Lopez announces new single 'First Love'

Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez has announced that her new single is going to be called "First Love".

The track, which will serve as the follow-up to French Montana-assisted "I Luh Ya Papi", was produced by Max Martin and it is scheduled to be released next month, reported Ace Showbiz.

"First Love" was one of the songs that were played during an intimate brunch Lopez hosted in Malibu, California, on April 25.

"I wish you were my first love 'cause if you were first there wouldn't have been a second, third or fourth love," the track goes.

Lopez, 44, who is dating toyboy lover Casper Smart, said that love have been the recurring theme in most of his albums.

Mumbai: Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has denied reports that he is doing Akshay Kumar`s next production venture, tentatively titled `Mubarakan`.
There were reports that Akshay had roped in the 29-year-old VJ-turned-actor for his comic caper, which will be co-produced by Ashwini Yarde under their banner Hari Om Productions.

However, the `Vicky Donor` star has issued a statement to clarify reports.

"There is no truth whatsoever to the news doing the rounds that Akshay Kumar ropes in Ayushmann Khurrana for his next production venture," the statement read.

Ayushmann was last seen in `Bewakoofiyaan`, a love story set in the time of recession, which had garnered a lukewarm response at the box-office.

The film was earlier called Window Seat, but it has now been changed to Tamasha. Imtiaz has also roped in A R Rahman for the fiilm's music and Irshad Kamil will pen lyrics for it.`

The source adds that pre-production of the film has already begun.
`The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and it will go on the floors sometime in June-July this year. It will be interesting to see both Ranbir and Deepika team up again,` says the source.

Yesteryear's actress Hema Malini, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from here on a BJP ticket, has credited her long film career for helping her become a politician.

The actress is up against sitting MP Jayant Chaudhary, son of Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh. "All my years in movies - all the hard work, tough outdoor schedules, long hours have all helped me in my new avatar as politician," Malini posted on Twitter.

Aamir Khan's Raakh to be re-released in June this year

Aamir Khan's lesser known 1989 film, Raakh, will be re-released in June this year as part of PVR Director's Rare.
Asif Noor, the film's producer, told a tabloid, "We had initially planned to release the film in April-May, but then decided to push it ahead due to elections."
The film was planned to be re-released in 2009 after it's prints were digitally restored. However, it didn't work out.
Talking to the tabloid, Shiladitya Bora of PVR Directors Rare said, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of Raakh and we are excited to bring it show it again on the big screen under our banner. The entire film has been reframed as per Santosh Sivan's vision. The film has also been re-edited by Sreekar Prasad and Chandan Arora. We are looking forward to a release in select theatres."

Directed by Aditya Bhattacharya, the film stars Aamir Khan, Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak. Pankaj Kapur won the National Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for this film.

'Ungli' to release on November 7

Karan Johar's 'Ungli' is all set to hit theatres on Novemebr 7 this year. The comedy-drama film, directed by Rensil D'Silva of 'Kurbaan' fame, stars Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt in the leading roles.

"Dharma productions 'Ungli' will release on November the 7th, 2014...," Johar posted on Twitter. The film was earlier expected to release sometime in May but it was postponed to avoid a clash with Sajid Nadiawala's 'Heropanti', which will see Jackie Shroff's son Tiger making a debut.

Back in 2004, Neha Dhupia created quite a furore by playing a prostitute in Deepak Shivdasani's Julie. Now the director is back with a sequel starring Sakshi Chaudhary.

Julie 2 is likely to be a story of an actress, not a prostitute.

"Considering how controversial and steamy Neha Dhupia's role was in Julie, Sakshi was apprehensive about the role. But then she heard her character in Julie 2 and flipped for it," said a source.
Sakshi says she was apprehensive initially.

"But when I heard the script, I agreed at once. It is a very performance-oriented film. Certainly not the kind of character a newcomer gets to play," said the newbie, who has no issues with skin show.

Vinay Sinha, the producer of the 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna, is perturbed to find social media and websites celebrating the 20th anniversary of the film. He states that the film released on November 4, 1994 and not on April 11, 1994.

The comedy, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. Social media has been abuzz since the past few days with the film's dialogues. Raveena had even stated on Twitter, `Ok so had people mentioning to me about andaz apna apna...really wonder how that film got made, no one was talking to anyone. Amir played maximum pranks, Salman did awesome scenes also gave many gaalis, Lolo n I sulked! Raj was hilarious and also in love, producer broke... but still we all had fun doing each scene, and so difficult to control our own laughter during takes... great memories.`

Like the film's theme someone has played a prank by mixing up the release dates. The faux pas was apparently because of the American way of writing a date so 4/11 became 11/4 which caused the chaos.
