Christmas came a week early for some special children as actor John Abraham was more than happy playing Santa Claus as a part of Amazon's 'Gift a Smile' initiative. The Desi Boyz actor spent an afternoon with a few kids who were battling terminal illness.
So what was it that the actor wished for?
"I want to see these children free from any illness and my endeavour will be and is to make hospitals for them so they get the best treatment and are free from diseases like cancer, I will be working on it soon," said John.
The actor, who has been missing from the big screen in 2014, said that he did not find any scripts that excited him as an actor and producer.
"Have we regressed this year in cinema. Maybe we have, I just didn't find any exciting scripts or stories to work on," John said. "I am working on Welcome Back, a film for the entire family. I love comedy, absolutely love working on comedy and then am doing a film like a Madras Café, called Rocky Handsome," he added.
"Of course my next film as a producer is 1911, a film on football when Mohun Bagan was initiated. The story is about their match against an English team. In my capacity as a producer I would like to do films that involve and encourage the youth, be it the story of a sperm donor, be it sports," John said.
Rubbishing rumours of starring in the Dhoni biopic, he said, "Mahi (MS Dhoni) is a dear friend and I am very happy for him but am not part of this film and I don't know why are they floating such rumors."
Applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address on the drug issue on 'Mann Ki Baat', the actor said though he is totally apolitical, he is happy with the new government taking measures for economic development.
Meanwhile, John Abraham's football team, North East United, may have not made it to the semi-finals in the inaugural session of the Indian Sports League but the actor said, "I will continue to work with my team and we will challenge ourselves every year and hopefully win more matches."
The actor, who will be 42 on December 17, said he doesn't celebrate his birthday.
And what about plans for his wedding anniversary? John pretended not to have heard the question. The actor married investment banker and financial analyst Priya Runchal in a private ceremony in Los Angeles as 2013 rolled into 2014. The actor announced the news of his marriage on microblogging site Twitter via a message signed off as "John and Priya Abraham".
