Mallika Sherawat has issued an official statement over a court case resulting from one of her live appearances.
The actress has been the subject of a criminal case filed against her after an alleged 'obscene' dance performance in the Indian state of Gujarat.
"The recent news reports in relation to the orders of the trial court at Baroda in connection with a criminal compliant have incorrectly reported that 'non-bailable warrants' have been issued in the name of Mallika Sherawat," declared the statement.
"The complaint was filed several years ago and a petition quashing of the same was filed before the Hon'ble Gujarat High Court in 2007 in which the orders were pronounced in early 2013."

The statement went on to read: "In the meantime it is clarified that no summons were served upon her since.

"She had not been in India and upon the application of the complainant no 'non-bailable warrants' were issued. We have not yet received the formal orders passed by the court at Baroda."

The complaint dates back to December 31, 2006, when Sherawat performed to Bollywood tracks at the JW Marriott Hotel at a New Year's Eve show.

Sherawat is known to divide her time between Los Angeles, Mumbai and the Cannes Film Festival.
