Producer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is emphatic that Deepika Padukone, as Leela, in Ram Leela, will be in the most gorgeous and spicy avatar till date on the celluloid.

Bhansali has given his heroines some of their most unforgettable roles: Be it Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi - The Musical, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish,Madhuri Dixit Nene in Devdas or Sonam Kapoorin Saawariya, When it came to Deepika's look of a Gujarati girl in Ram-Leela, he wanted to keep it as natural to his vision. Minimalistic make-up by Mehera Kolah and an undone light bouffant ensured that the actress looked ethereal. Bhansali even traveled to the interiors of Gujarat to source fabrics for Deepika's outfits, designed by Anju Modi.

About her experience of working with Bhansali, Modi says, "He doesn't believe in restricting creativity and that makes it a dream for any designer."

Further, to add authenticity to Leela's look, Deepika had to get traditional tattoos painted on her face and neck. Even her jewelry was sourced from the local markets in Gujarat. Says the actress, "Apart from the fact that he is one of the most celebrated directors, Sanjay sir has always been known for the way he presents his heroines.

So, other than getting to work with him, I was excited about my look in the film. His attention to detail combined with Anju's creative brilliance, helped Leela come alive."

Bhansali adds, "Leela is like my mother - beautiful, graceful, but teekhi! She's delicate, but she cannot be taken lightly. She isn't a recluse. She lives life to the fullest and on her own terms. She is color, she is what she is... I wanted Deepika to be that."

Ram-Leela, produced by Eros International and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, releases November 15.
