Lauding the number and nature of women-centric films in the country, Katrina Kaif however laments that there is no change in the remuneration for them in Bollywood ever since she joined the industry in 2003.

"Since the time I entered the industry, the growth (of women-centric movies in Bollywood) has been phenomenal. The kind of roles being written is great...Kangana Ranaut has done queen, Vidya Balan did 'Kahaani'...now it has more layers. Our cinema has come a long way.

"But one thing which has not changed is the remuneration for women. There is still a huge disparity. Let's see what happens with that," she added.
Earlier, Kangana and Kareena Kapoor have been vocal about the financial compensation of actresses in tinsel town.

Salman Khan, whose movies often mint over Rs.100 crore at the Bollywood box office, says small-budget films deserve fair visibility in theatres as big budget entertainers, as they too involve money and passion.

"People make small films with a lot of passion, they put their own money in it and if these films are not supported, then they would never see the day of light and hence, lot of money is lost," Salman said here Friday at the music launch of the small fry "Khwaabb".

"For big films, this is a very small amount but when somebody is putting in his own hard earned money there, then it makes a lot of difference. There is passion, hardwork and money."

"I think the small films should be given a fair chance to release and come in the theatres," he added.

The 48-year-old has earlier supported Vikas Bahl's "Chillar Party" and released it under his banner Salman Khan Being Human Productions.

Besides this, he also lent his support to Nitin Kakkar's National Award winning film "Filmistaan".
Aamir ‘social crusader’ Khan highlighted some of the most important facts in the season finale episode of Satyamev Jayate 2
Satyamev Jayate 2 went on air earlier this month and in the past 4 episodes, Aamir Khan raised important issues such as the spurt in the number of atrocities against women, Indian police system, importance of waste management and one of the biggest issues of India – corruption. In the season finale episode, which was aired today (March 30), Aamir put forth the country’s current political scenario, which will help every Indian to cast their vote for the right candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

With the able help of statistics, data and thorough research Khan showed us how out of 543 Lok Sabha MPs (Members of Parliament) and 4032 MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly), 30% (162 in number) and 31% (1264 in number) have criminal cases pending against them respectively. And they treat criminal records and unlawful cases as their achievements. On the other hand, regardless of their criminal records, political parties show no qualms in accepting their nomination papers.

Aamir invited Bitiya’s father, who spoke about Raghuraj Pratap Singh also known as Raja Bhaiya (MLA from Kunda, Uttar Pradesh and Minister of Food and Civil Supplies) immoral behaviour. Bitiya, as the show shows, was assaulted and murdered by Raja Bhaiya. And we did our own little search on Raja, after which we found that UP Police has more than 45 criminal cases of extortion, murder, kidnapping among others against him. He is also said to be involved in many illegal trading activities such as those relating to sand mining from the riverside.

Followers of Ajit Sarkar, member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for Purnea constituency, also remembered him for his benevolence. Ajit was gunned down in Purnia. In 1999, Pappu Yadav was arrested for his murder, who released from jail last year.

The prominent highlight of the show was the presence of Shahabuddin Yaqoob Quraishi, India’s former Chief Election Commissioner. Quraishi revealed that the political parties use funeral vans to hide money meant for voters. He also said that phony weddings are planned sans the groom/bride to arrange free meal for voters.

It was also revealed how the politicos cash in on their negative image to create fear and maintain their ‘market value’. But it’s not only the politicians, who are to be blamed. Voters demand cash, mobile phone, TV set, refrigerator to cast their votes for particular candidates. And it’s not only people from low income groups sell their votes. Middle income groups too show no qualms. As they rightly say in Hindi, “taali ek haath se nahi bajti.”

The fifth and final episode of Satyamev Jayate 2 was overwhemigly disturbing and at the same time it was a reality check for all of us. It made us ponder over who do we cast our precious vote for in the forthcoming elections. As Aamir rightly said, “Na hum bikau hain, aur na humara vote.” So now we know, what we have to do before we get to the polling booths in the next month as we
The former porn star raises temperatures in this sex scene which was deleted from Ragini MMS 2
Sunny Leone, who is celebrating the success of her latest horrex film Ragini MMS 2 had shot a sex scene, which was too bold and explicit to have been passed by the censor board. Therefore the scene was dropped from the final version of the film that hit the theatres on March 21.

However, the makers of the film have released Sunny Leone’s sex scene, which raises the mercury levels and…how! The video has the Canadian porn star turned actor exposing her assets as the tune of Baby doll song from the film plays in the background. Looks like Ms Leone’s older experience came in handy (pun not intended) while shooting this raunchy scene. No wonder, all the men were asked to leave the sets, while this scene was being shot.

Anyway, watch Sunny Leone’s sex scene that was deleted from Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS 2 here.
Haydon doesn’t want to go on a film signing spree
Model-turned-actor Lisa Haydon says she is patiently waiting for appealing projects like her last release Queen and is in no mood to go on a signing spree.

Haydon is keen to bank on the success of Kangana Ranaut-starrer blockbuster Queen in which she played a prominent supporting role. “I am waiting for the right projects to come. I am in no hurry at all. After the blessing of being part of a great film, I want to make sure that whatever I do next capitalises on how amazing Queen has been,” Haydon said in an email interview.

“It should be a step forward. I am now traveling to Basel as I endorse for watch brand. I also have a few other commitments to fulfill. Post that I will choose something from what I am being offered,” she added.

Haydon played an outgoing single mother Vijayalakshmi in the comedy-drama, who makes a living by working as a staff in a hotel.

Her performance as Vijayalakshmi was well received by the audience and Haydon feels the reason behind that was because everyone could identify with her character.

“It feels really good that something we have put so much effort and love into has been appreciated. People are appreciating it for it’s authenticity. Somewhere they feel like they have been able to identify with Vijayalakshmi.”

“Vijaylakshmi is compelling and loveable. Characters like her don’t come along everyday so I am just enjoying this moment for what it is,” she said.

The actor, who has starred in films like Aisha and Rascals, does not want to sign projects in which the depth of her role holds less prominence and the focus instead falls on her beauty.

“I don’t mind being good looking but that should not override all my other attributes. Therefore I want to pick a character that I can add dimensions to regardless of her looks,” Haydon said.

The 44-year-old actor won the award for `Himmatwala` and the 26-year-old actress bagged the award for `R...Rajkumar` at the awards which were held at the India Habitat Centre and were celebrated with much gusto on March 29.

[Man mast magan, man mast magan
Bas tera naam dohraaye] x 2`

Mumbai: After a less than successful pairing in YRF`s `Jab Tak Hai Jaan`, Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan were rumoured to have come together for Rahul Dholakia`s `Raees`

But recently the actress has come out in the open to declare that she was not approached for the movie.

"I don`t know where this news has come from. There is no such discussion like that till now. There are three films `Bang Bang`, `Phantom` and `Jagga Jassos` that I am doing right now. I am in talks for two more projects which I can`t reveal," Katrina told PTI.

With some pretty big films in her kitty, it seems it is going to be a while before we see the two superstars together again.

Even director Rahul Dholakia dismissed the report and said, "I don`t think so we have approached her. But we will surely finalise the leading lady in a couple of weeks."

There is more gossip about the actress that she has been offered Ashutosh Gowarikar`s upcoming period film. But the actress refused to reveal any details and left us guessing whether it was true or not.

"I feel for whatever films I am in discussion with a filmmaker it is not correct to talk about it unless one is doing it because if it doesn`t work out then it makes things awkward for the people and the project," she said.

Presently, Katrina is busy with `Bang Bang` opposite Hrithik Roshan and `Jagga Jasoos` with rumored boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.
The actress has delivered two hit films with Ranbir earlier in `Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani` and `Rajneeti`.

"Both the films that Ranbir and I did were really liked by people and were successful. It is exciting for me to work with Ranbir again, he is a great actor. Director Anurag Basu is one of the finest directors that we have today and I am privileged to work with him," she said.

Besides, she has Kabir Khan`s `Phantom` with Saif Ali Khan, with whom she is pairing up for the first time.

As of now SRK and Farhan Khan are coming together for `Raees`, and it is also rumoured that Sonam Kapoor may star in it. Tentatively the movie will release on Eid, 2015.
Melbourne: National award-winning actress Vidya Balan, who is on a mini break from her hectic career, says she has no plans to join politics and will stick to her acting career.

"I don`t have a political bent of mind except that I will cast my vote like a responsible citizen of India," Balan told reporters during the launch of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) here yesterday.

She said she was honoured to be the brand ambassador of the festival third time with the 2014 being the special one as the festival will be inaugurated by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan on May 1 here.

Balan is on her two-day trip to Australia and would be returning back tonight to receive Padma Shree award on Monday in New Delhi.
Expressing her gratitude for all the awards and appreciations she has received in the past, Balan said, "As long as I get exciting parts to play, work with good filmmakers and team, I think that is what I am hoping for... Everything else follows."
"I have never pursued or worked towards an award but good work is always what one hopes for," Balan said.
The 36-year-old actress also quashed her pregnancy rumours disclosing that she was taking a short break to get back to her acting career.

"I have been working with back to back shooting and film release for the last five years. I am taking a break for two months before I start promoting my next film `Bobby Jasoos` which will release in June or July and would need lot of work," she said.

According to recent reports, Balan opted out of Sujoy Ghosh`s next thriller `Durga Rani Singh` and speculations are that she has been replaced by Kangana Ranaut.

When asked about her take on Ranaut replacing her in the film, Balan said, "I am happy that she is doing the film."
Mumbai:Actress Alia Bhatt, who has shot for some intimate scenes with Arjun Kapoor for her new movie "2 States", says she is an actor on screen and not anybody`s daughter.

Asked how did her parents react to her intimate scenes, Alia said: "Have you seen my father`s film? I am an actor on screen and not anybody`s daughter."

"Anyway, I don`t think my dad has any problem with it," Alia told reporters during a press conference.

Alia, who plays a Tamil girl in the film, says her character is very mature.

"Ananya is much more mature. She is very intelligent... after all, she is an MBA. I relate to the character. She can do anything for the people she loves."

Arjun, who agreed to be part of "2 States", says one reason why he agreed to be part of the film was because he feels love does not have any boundaries.

"I choose to do this film because I feel there are no boundaries when it comes to love. Nobody can stop you when it comes to love. I connected to this film emotionally," he said.

Directed by Abhishek Verman, "2 States" is slated for release April 18.
The 2014 general elections are just round the corner and the makers of ‘O Teri’ couldn’t have found a better time to release their venture. Starring ‘Fukrey’ boy Pulkit Samrat and debutant Bilal Amrohi in the lead roles, ‘O Teri’ comes across as an average spoof on the present political system drenched in various colours of corruption.
The idea behind the film is brilliant but the execution leaves you dissatisfied. Director Umesh Bist tries to establish two political parties with corrupt ministers - Anupam Kher and Vijay Raaz - as their representatives.

The film opens with the murder of an honest officer investigating the proceedings of the ‘Asian Games’, a project handled by Kher. Raaz, who belongs to the opposition party, kills the officer with an intention of holding Kher responsible for his death. But his plan takes a wretched U-turn which leads to a sequence of bizarre events.

Prantabh Pratap aka PP (Pulkit Samrat) and Anand Ishwaram Devdutt Subramanium aka AIDS (Bilal Amrohi) are two washed out journalists, who are in search of scam stricken story to impress their boss Monsoon (Sarah Jane Dias), who heads the news channel.

Just when the two give up hope of finding an interesting story of their boss’s “choice”, they bump into the officer’s dead body in their car. The two wannabe “celeb journalists” inform her about the dead body that could help them file a breaking story which could in turn boost their channel’s TRP. The lady in question however, turns out to be Kher’s partner-in-crime.
The filmmaker has tried to showcase corruption at all levels.
Though the producers have refuted reports of the film being based on the Delhi Commonwealth Games, ‘O Teri’, does fall within the bracket of a film inspired by real life events, at least in some way or the other. Nonetheless, the film also covers a variety of other issues in the periphery - presence of manipulative individuals at various spheres in the system ever ready to sling mud at the other, superstition etc.

Pulkit as PP and Bilal as AIDS have done a decent job. Their chemistry may remind you of Amar- Prem (Aamir Khan and Salman Khan) from the cult film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. However, the two young boys have miles to cover in order to establish themselves as power-packed performers.

As an actor, Sarah will have to work harder but the one who steals the show is Anupam Kher. The veteran will leave you absolutely speechless. Powerhouse of talent- Vijay Raaz does his job well. His dialogue delivery is worth an applause. The support cast - Manoj Pahwa, Razzaq Khan and others have done their parts well.

The dialogues are in sync with the characters and justify the story.

The songs in the film are a total waste. They dilute the whole purpose of the film. Bist could have considered omitting the songs in order to treat the film in a much better way.

‘O Teri’ could have been much better had the makers stuck to realism to an extent. For instance, the scenes with the dead body are funny but do make you wonder if a lifeless body could remain without decomposing. Moreover there is an instance when Monsoon calls up PP to tell him that his life is in danger. That sequence shows a giant loophole in the script.

The film isn’t a complete dud. It has a few good moments scattered sporadically. But had they been in order, ‘O Teri’ with a great concept, could have been a much better product.
New Delhi: Debutant director Sanamjit Talwar unnecessarily complicates the gangster flick with layer after layer of characterisation. Sinister characters, desperately in need to bathe, keep popping up and popping off for no other reason except to remind us that the world of Mumbai`s gangsterism has not changed much from the time when Ram Gopal Varma made "Satya".
But while in "Satya" we genuinely cared for the sanguinary characters, here in "Dishkiyaoon", we are too tired of the trigger-happy marauders to give a flying f**k about whether they live or die.

The dark menacing characters all look like carryovers from Varma`s "Satya" and "Company" trying hard to shield their jadedness in a revved up revivified swagger which only helps to accentuate their frozen renewability.

The characters` hands remain soaked in the same blood as "Satya", no matter how hard the script tries to cover their bloodied track with streaks of cosmetic conceit. Try as it might the narration`s worn-out edges stick out of the sleekly-designed format.

The film is very stylishly packaged with some ear-catching background music (Amar Mohile) and cinematography (Axel Fischer) that fuses colour and black-and-white in a hide `n` seek with time.

Sad to say the impressive colour scheme lacks clarity consistence and logic. Much like the film which rambles on about the relationship between crime and comeuppance but doesn`t offer us one reason to believe that these characters deserve our attention.

What redeems the film`s inherently fagged-out storytelling are the actors.

Prashant Narayanan as Harman`s mentor, Sumeet Nijhawan as a crime lord who doesn`t use a gun and specially Anand Tiwari as a hot-headed goon, turn in implosive performances that ignite the frames when the director is taken up with intensifying the layering process.

Sunny Deol`s Haryanvi accent is as distracting as Harman`s moustache.

But the young actor has returned to the screen with the language of languidity lending an aura of urgent doom to the goings-on. Newcomer Ayesha Khanna has a brief but effective part as the guitar-playing musician who wonders if she and the world around her would ever be compatible.

Watching "Dishkiyaaoon" we are faced by the same dilemma. While we warm up to the film`s performances and its intelligent take on gangsterism, the constant barrage of slaying and screaming leave us cold.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty dazzled the ramp as she supported her designer friend Tarun Tahiliani, who opened the Autumn-Winter edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) here with his Indian heritage inspired collection.
Dressed in a layered kanjeevaram lehenga and draped corset, the 38-year-old actress displayed her hourglass figure and said she feels great to be back on the runway after the birth of her son Viaan Raj Kundra.

"Tarun is family. This is he first time I am walking the ramp after the baby. It is a very overwhelming feeling for me to come back. After the baby, I had put on 35 kgs. I thought I will never be able to fit in his clothes again. I had always thought that if ever I make a ramp comeback it has to be or Tarun`s show. And I finally did it," Shipa said after the show.
Shilpa was also accompanied by Harman Bawaja and Ayesha Khanna, the stars of her debut production venture `Dishkiyaoon`. While Harman looked dapper in a black layered jacket and Jodhpuri breeches, Ayesha was stunning in a black draped tunic and churidaar.

"I am so grateful that Tarun also decided to deck my hero and heroine today. `Dishkayoon` is my second baby. I am very excited about it. I hope people go out and watch the film," Shilpa said.

In Tahilian`s collection, gold finery decked the collars and cuffs giving the illusion of layers of golden thread. The tunics stood out. The South Indian Necklace patterns was the inspiration behind the emperor silhouette and the necklines.

In the collection there was a special emphasis on the prints like multi scarf patterns. Unconventional sarees, dhoti skirts, jackets with slits, short crop jackets and long asymmetric kurtas gave traditional clothing a global edge.

"The idea of this collection traces its root in the early tradition of the country when the clothes would mould to fit the body and not vice versa," Tahiliani said.

People today have an indifferent attitude towards actors when they see them on streets, going about their day-to-day activities. But this was surely not the case for Kaanchi's leading lady, the beautiful and talented debutante Mishti. She was recently mobbed by fans at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Rakesh Roshan is very thrilled with the success of Krrish 3 last year and it is this kind of success that has made him already start work on his next subject within such a short time, something he has taken years to do. And if anyone thinks it will be Krrish 4, it is certainly not. The filmmaker is working on a subject that is entirely original and the only truth is that at this stage is that Rakesh will make a film only with his son Hrithik Roshan. -
