Bollywood actor Salman Khan's sister Arpita and her husband Aayush Sharma enjoyed a dinner date at Mumbai's Olive Bar Restaurant on November 28.

The nuptials were attended by Bollywood A-listers including actors Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, among others. The reception, held in Mumbai's Taj Lands End Hotel on November 21, was an equally star-studded affair.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has sent a notice asking her tenants, who have been accused of running a sex racket on her property in Mumbai rented to them, to vacate.

The 32-year-old star said she has already sent a notice to the accused, asking them to vacate the property. "It is a matter under investigation. Whatever the police say we will abide by that. We have sent a legal notice already and they will have to vacate,

Police had busted the alleged flesh trade earlier this month on her property, which Priyanka had leased out to a spa owner.

"It was shocking and little unnerving for me... You give so many properties which you put on rent and you don't know what people are doing in their homes. Like that, I didn't know what they were doing, it was just a property which went on rent. Right now the police are investigating. I don't have much knowledge of it but my lawyers are keeping a track of it," the actress told PTI.
Actress Freida Pinto always wanted to be a global citizen and after making a place for herself in Hollywood, the actress is keen to star in a Bollywood movie.

The actress, who shot to international fame with her role in Danny Boyle-directed Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, says there have been opportunities in the past but things somehow did not work out. She is also keen to collaborate with a female director in Bollywood.

"I want to work in Bollywood. I never said that I am not interested in working in Indian film industry," Freida told PTI in an interview.

"I would love to work with a female Indian director. There were times when I liked the scripts but as I had already committed to other films in Hollywood, I could not do. At other times the roles were not exciting or strong enough for me to take up," she added.

The 30-year-old actress says Hollywood was always on her mind and feels proud of herself that she overcame all limitations and realised her dream of working outside India.

"I always wanted to be a global citizen. I knew I had to pack my bags go out and establish myself at the global platform. That was my dream. I could do that because I had the right education. I have transcended all the possible limitations. I hope my story can inspire other girls," she said.

Freida, born and brought up in Mumbai, says she is grateful to her roots for keeping her strong in the foreign land.

"India has taught me a lot; it is something about this country, be the people or the hardships we face but it teaches you great lessons. I don't get shocked when I see poverty in any country because I have seen it in my own country. India has made me value relationships," she said.

Freida says she is always conscious about presenting herself as a universal actress as she does not want be stereotyped on the basis of her origin.

"When I go to a filmmaker in Hollywood I don't present myself as someone who has come from some other country but I go there as an actress. When I choose a role, I look at it from the perspective of content rather than the fact that I am Indian and I should do specific kind of roles. When it comes to work, I just think like an actor," Frieda said.

The You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger star feels Hollywood is more open today to various ethnicities.v "Stereotyping of Indian actors has reduced a lot there. It is much easier now but had I entered 10 years back it would have been difficult getting good work there," she said.

After her documentary Smile Pinki won an Oscar, American director Megan Mylan now wants to take her second project After My Garden Grows, set in rural West Bengal, to short film festivals across the globe.

After My Garden Grows was premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

The film got an award in the just-concluded Kolkata International Film Festival in the short film category.

Megan said she had arranged a special screening of the film for Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran in New Delhi a fortnight back, and recalled how the actor talked about the crisis adolescent Indian girls face and confided to their mother.

"We were bowled over by the couple's humility and dedication to the cause," she said. The documentary touches deeply-ingrained traditions like dowry and archaic customs in rural Bengal and takes notice of how the present generation is coming out of the cocoon, Megan says, observing that such subjects are topical everywhere. "There is drinking water shortage and problems like this, but what strikes you immediately is that there is no sad face on account of this," she noted.

Having witnessed the change in Bengal's society in the past six years, Megan recalled, "During Smile Pinki the people treated me and the crew as aliens. There was no mobile phone and electricity in those times. It took time to earn their trust."

"But here, this time, my protagonist in After My Garden Grows, Monika, is more tech-savvy. She can see latest Tollywood films on her mobile. It seems they have moved on with time," Megan, who has shot the film in a remote hamlet in the state, explained.

Megan, in this context, complimented the Kanyasree project instituted by the West Bengal government, a project which accords the supreme place to the woman at the household.

"I was amazed to see how daughters are now considered as assets to their families. They are learning, helping and aiding their families like their fathers. They are the present generation women of Bengal," she said.

Megan, who regrets not being able to watch the interesting KIFF package this year due to late arrival, is, however, charmed with the knowledge and experience of moviegoers who seem to be well-versed with all the trends and techniques of world cinema including short films.

"It is apparent from the type of questions you face during the post-screening discourse. The progressiveness also manifests in the exclusive women's only section of the festival, a very novel concept. I heard about your Farah Khan and here I can see a whole lot of them. All so independently minded," she said.

Mega, who in a lighter vein, talked about the surge of humanity, the crowd and the "hanging lights from trees" so typical and magical of Kolkata, did not rule out shooting her next short film on this festival crowd.

"It will be a cross between fantasy and reality as seen in the eyes of your people," she said
Actress Bipasha Basu on Tuesday lent her support to Pinkathon, a run for breast cancer awareness, terming it an important platform that encourages women.

"It's a pleasure to be associated with Pinkathon for consecutively three years now. I feel that Pinkathon is an important platform that encourages women to come out of their shell and talk about their fight with cancer," Bipasha told reporters as actor Milind Soman formally announced the launch of this year's SBI Mumbai Pinkathon at a press conference in Asilo.

"It gives them a chance to show the world how tough they are to stand against all odds and truly be winners. I wish Milind (Soman) all the success in this noble endeavor and urge the women of Mumbai to participate in huge numbers," Bipasha added.

"Pinkathon is beyond a marathon. It is a run for a noble cause connecting people across segments. It has become a national movement. Mumbai and Mumbaikars have come in large numbers and supported us throughout our journey," Milind said.

The focus of the international running event is to encourage an active lifestyle and overall fitness for women and create much needed awareness about breast cancer. Pinkathon will take place in Mumbai on December 14.

Pinkathon has so far been held across the country in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Pune.

The event expects over 10,000 participants. It had a varied number of participants from an 18 month old girl to a 79-year-old lady, a squad of blind girls and one of cancer survivors.

Bipasha said, "I hope more than 10,000 women come forward and support this cause. I will be part of this cause and will run as much as I can."

The run has received tremendous support in Mumbai from various celebrities like Lisa Haydon, Karisma Kapoor, Gul Panag and Bipasha who have gone all out to promote the cause.

Varun made his Bollywood debut in Dharma Productions' 2012 college drama Student Of The Year, after assisting director-producer Karan Johar in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's My Name is Khan.

The Partner director termed Varun's mentor Karan Johar as his 'first father'.

"Karan (Johar) is the first father and I am his second father. Varun has come from a right banner and if you ask me. I am happy as a father. I am a filmmaker who has made so many films. But Varun began by working with Karan and that makes him what he is today. God bless Karan for nurturing young talents," he said.

Mr Dhawan's elder son Rohit is following in on his father's footsteps and is currently gearing up for his second directorial venture which features actors John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun in the lead. His directorial debut was Desi Boyz.

"He (Rohit) is a newcomer. He has produced three movies and another two are in the pipeline. Everything looks very nice. But Rohit has to work hard. I am very happy as a father, rest God is there to look after my kids," Mr Dhawan said.

"They are very serious guys who are doing well. They have a great future ahead," he said.
Sid Mallya’s web series Sid Sessions is all about giving it back to the haters. The Mallya scion takes on debasing questions directed at him in the most humourous way possible! After the first and second episodes being centred around his crotch, the third episode focuses on his sexual orientation which shockingly enough (going by the webisode) plenty of people are confused about!

I always thought that in popular opinion Sid was considered as a ‘Casanova’ or a ‘Ladies Man’, but after watching the webisode clearly I was wrong! Another popular opinion about the actor seems to be that he is a homosexual. In fact, upon doing some background research I found out that these rumours surrounding his sexual orientation were rife even when he was dating Deepika! At a press event Sid had addressed the rumour, saying how absurd it was that on the one hand people call him a playboy and on the other gay. “It can’t be both! Make your mind up, it’s one or the other,” he joked.

In this video, Sid take every “Are you gay?” question head on. Some homophobic people even hurl abuses at him, some make fun of him but Sid being Sid takes it all in his stride! He gets back at the haters with his ever witty remarks hoping that this episode of Sid Sessions would clarify people’s doubts!

We loved the last bit of the episode where Sid’s cute pooch Duke makes an appearance same as the last two episodes!

Happy Ending opened on a low note. The film starring Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz and Govinda in lead roles after having dull occupancy for morning shows, did not pick up much later in the day. The film collected Rs. 4.00 crores at the domestic box office.

In spite of receiving decent reviews, the film witnessed a dull opening. Targeted at the urban centric audience mainly, naturally the film struggled in the mass centers. The footfalls in metros such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune was average.

Considering that it was a solo release, Happy Ending gained a decent screen count and has no competition from the previous week’s release as Kill Dil is making a disappointing business. A healthy positive word of mouth can give this film a required push over the weekend.

Superstar Salman Khan's last release Kick, which was released in many cities in Poland last week, is doing good business.

The film was released with Polish sub-titles and this helped Polish people, particularly the young, to enjoy the Bollywood masala fare thoroughly. The film is being shown in Warsaw, Krakow, Lublin, Poznan and in many important Polish cities.

"The response is very encouraging and the exhibitor is very happy," said JJ Singh, president of the Indo-Polish Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI) who was actively involved in the shooting of Kick.

The climax of this film was completed in the Polish capital in April this year when Salman could not get a British visa to shoot in London. The British authorities had refused a visa as Salman was facing charges in a Mumbai court.

This forced producer and director Sajid Nadiadwala to select Warsaw locations for Salman's dare-devil action sequences. A Polish company Film Polska had joined hands with Sajid to finish the shooting speedily. It was only a two-week schedule.

The Polish population is very excited to see the action scenes.

"It is great to see our favourite Indian actor do amazing stunts scenes, whether he was jumping from Warsaw's highest building, the Palace of Culture or a bus was thrown from a bridge over the Vistula river," said Daria Dulok, a young Polish woman who is doing her doctorate on Bollywood culture.

It was the first time that an Indian film unit had selected Warsaw. Earlier in 2006, Aamir Khan, Kajol and Suniel Shetty had come to film the climax of Fanna at the Tatra Mountains.

According to Mr Singh, Ajay Devgn has selected Krakow for his next film and he is going to spend ten to fifteen weeks to shoot in April to June next year. Ajay had come to Poland in September to finalise the formalities and has signed a contract with Film Polska of Krakow to provide his unit all the logistics.

"It is really very encouraging that Poland finally has become a destination for Bollywood actors and producers. This year in July and August, Riteish Deshmukh had brought his unit to shoot Bangistaan in Krakow, which is the most beautiful area in Poland.

"We have well qualified technicians and other support staff which is very professional. One Polish cinematographer Artur Zurawski did a commendable job when he shot Rani Mukherji's Mardani," said Janusz Krzyzowski, president of the Warsaw branch of the India-Polish Cultural Committee.

Makhdoom Brothers, a city-based clothier, designed and manufactured the wedding sherwani.

Studded with Swarovski beads of crystal glass from Austria, the golden-colour sherwani is made of Jamawar, a special cloth.

"We have also used dabka beads. It's all handwork. It took 15 days for four workers to prepare this," said Abid Mohiuddin, one of the owners of Makhdoom Brothers.

He said that since Salman and his family members were the guests of Hyderabad, they decided to present the sherwani as a gift.

He, however, declined to reveal its price. Started in 1895, Maqdoom Brothers were official caterers for the Nizams, the rulers of erstwhile Hyderabad State.

They presented a Jodhpuri to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sherwanis to former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf and former South African president Thabo Mbeki.

Actress Mona Singh, who is currently busy promoting her next film Zed Plus, says television shows should come in seasons as watching daily soaps gets boring.

The actress agrees that small screen is growing immensely but according to her, there should be some changes in the format to maintain freshness.

“TV is growing big time now. TV serials are changing and change is necessary. It’s good as I have always believed that TV should come in seasons because daily soaps everyday gets boring,” she said in an interview.

“I mean how much newness can you get in 50 episodes. It looks boring and monotonous so it is important for an actor to take a break and think about a fresh season and comeback. It’s a refreshing and a welcoming change,” she added.

Mona, who is remembered for her roles in TV shows Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, is now geared up for the release of her film.

She says the script of the film, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, forced her to give nod to it.

“The first thing was the script. It was one of the most interesting narrations that I have ever heard. Also Dwivedi sir left the end open and he said he will not reveal the end now and this made me say yes to the script,”

Zed Plus also features Adil Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra among others. The film will hit screens Nov 28

Sania doesn’t want to share the details of her life for a biopic but says that if anything along the lines of her biopic would happen in the future, she’d like Deepika Padukone to play her role.

“I’m a private person. I don’t want a film to be made on me because I don’t want to share my intimate details. I’m not that kind of a person, and I have got offers for a biopic previously but I have said no,” she said on the sidelines of the ongoing National Children’s Film Festival (NCFF), organised by the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI).

“But if someone puts me on the spot and I have to choose, then I would want Deepika Padukone to play my role,”

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has allegedly been arrested with her partner Vicky Goswami on the charge of drug trafficking in Kenya.

In 1997, Mr Goswami was jailed in Dubai for drug-related offences. He left prison in 2012, having forged a relationship with Mamta while in jail. They have since reportedly been living in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mamta, now 42, starred in hit films like Karan Arjun and Baazi in the '90s. Her last film of note was Rajkumar Santoshi's China Gate in 1998, which proved to be a flop. She made some lacklustre appearances in obscure films like 2001's Censor and 2002's Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum.

Mamta then quietly faded away, resurfacing some years ago after a Dubai-based newspaper spotted her visiting her partner in jail.

His counsel Hastimal Saraswat said Khan decided to attend the hearings when he found out they would coincide with his visit.

"He (Khan) was not summoned by the court on Friday, but since he was in the city for some other work, he made it a point to appear in court as a gesture of responsibility and respect for the court," he added.

Yet another star kid is raring to make a foray into Bollywood. We are talking about superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 17 year old son Aryan.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the head honcho of Yashraj Films Aditya Chopra is planning to launch his good friend SRK’s son in the ‘Dhoom’ series and in most probability, it’s going to be ‘Dhoom: 6′. It was earlier reported that Shah Rukh Khan himself has expressed a desire to be a part of the series and scripts were being written to accomodate the enormity of the characters. “If I get an opportunity, I would love to do it. I find it very cool,” SRK was quoted as saying.

The ‘Dhoom’ franchise, which earlier has had stars like Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan on board, is also speculated to have Salman Khan in the next instalment in a negative role.

The preparations of the movie starring Aryan, however, might take a few years as SRK wants Aryan to complete his education first and wants him to start when he turns 21. Aryan turned 17 yesterday (November 13).

The history of Indian cinema doesn’t have great success stories of ‘star kids’ especially when it comes to the parent being larger-than-life superstar. So, will Aryan be able to break the jinx? We shall see.

Aamir Khan may say, "Love is a Waste of Time", but he can't keep his eyes off Anushka Sharma in the latest song from their upcoming movie PK.

PK stares at his Jagat Janini in the rear view mirror as he rides pillion with her, he can't concentrate on his work when she's watering the plants and hears little of what she says on a trip to a historical place - so enchanted is he by her face.

And though pyaar is a waste of time, PK and girlfriend with the pixie cut decide that they want to "waste their time" at least once in their lifetime.

And so, PK and Jagat Janini, who look made for each other, paint the town red, in this foottapping song crooned by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal with music by Shantanu Moitra.
