Oscar winning actress Patricia Arquette during her speech asked for wage equality amongst men and women in Hollywood and her words have also found acceptance in Bollywood with many actresses speaking against the wage inequality in Hindi film industry. But it seems Sonam Kapoor begs to differ from the other actresses on the same.

Though the actress is all game for the wage equality but at the same time she says that things won't change until and unless the films with women actresses as the lead get as big opening at the box office as the hero-based films.

The actress was quoted by a leading website, "It's mathematics really. There is something called a market price in our industry. It does not make economic sense for the producer to give me the same price as the lead actor of the same category. Say a Ranbir Kapoor film will open to Rs.10 crore on Friday, but my films will open significantly low. So it's important for the producer to earn the money invested. It makes mathematic sense."

Though Bollywood has seen women based films like Queen and Mary Kom in the recent past which have not just done good business at the box office but also received acclaim from the critics. But there is no denying the fact that there are only a handful of such films. And, it will still take some time for such films to compete with hero-based films at the box office.

Sunny Leone-Jay Bhanushali’s upcoming thriller, Ek Paheli Leela, has been in the news ever since its promos were out, thanks to the steamy scenes and scarcely dressed Sunny it showcased. Directed by Bobby Khan, the film sees Jay Bhanushali essaying the role of a musician for which the actor took guitar lessons on the advice of his director.

A source close to the actor revealed to a daily, “While Jay was preparing for his role, he took the lessons very seriously.” But the actor seems to be enjoying music a little too much to give it up now as he continues to take music lessons even now for two hours every morning.

Confirming the new, the actor reported to the same daily, “It all started when my director asked me to get the right attitude and expression while playing the guitar. While practising, I gradually became interested in playing the instrument.” He further added, “Hence, post the film, I decided to continue with the guitar lessons regularly.

The actor also confesses that he always wanted to learn playing the guitar as a child because he thought it looked “cool” and that playing the instrument keeps him calm.

We are glad Jay is fulfilling his childhood dream. But whether it’s going well or not can only be said once we hear him play, right?

Madonna's big comeback at the Brit Awards was interrupted by a rather big fall as the singer tumbled onstage while performing her latest song.

For her performance the singer wore a bolero style outfit with an attached cape. As the singer started undoing her cape, it got stuck as it was probably tied too tight.

Since the backup dancers faced her back, unaware of the fix Madonna was in, they pulled the cape off her. Still untied, the move pulled Madonna and she came crashing down on the stage.

However the queen of pop didn't let that deter her and went on to give a fantastic performance.

Later the singer took to Instagram to explain the fall and assured her fans that she was alright....

Shah Rukh Khan has always been popular amongst the NRIs and his films have minted a lot of moolah at the international box office. But it seems that Aamir Khan has dethroned the King Khan since his films PK, Dhoom:3 and 3 Idiots are the top three grossers on foreign shores.

Over the last few years, the equeation seems to have changed in the overseas market as Aamir Khan has become the leading actor among the three Khans. His three hits in the international box office are followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year and Chennai Express.

Aamir Khan's last release PK has become the highest grossing film of all time by minting Rs.600 crore in India as well as abroad. The film broke the record of Chennai Express which had displaced Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots.

According to a leading website, Trade analyst Taran Adarsh was quoted as saying, "There's a tough fight between Shah Rukh and Aamir in the overseas territory. Besides star-power, it's also about the film and its content. As of now, yes Aamir is having a dream run. But SRK is also a huge pull. Aamir's Dhoom:3 was already an established brand. PK had him coming back with Rajkumar Hirani after a massively successful 3 Idiots. Besides this, the film's content found high acceptance overseas. Though HNY did very well, it didn't match the kind of numbers one has of an SRK film. It did lesser than Chennai Express. Dhoom:3 and now PK have put Aamir in a great position."

Komal Nahata adds, "Out of the top five grossers overseas, three are Aamir's movies. The figures speak for themselves and Aamir's ranking in the overseas market. I think like the audience in India, even the audience abroad has started looking at Aamir's movies like an ISI mark. They associate his movies with quality and novelty. They know that if it's an Aamir Khan movie it must be something good. That's why his movies are doing so well."

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who will next be seen as a detective in Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! set in the 1940s, recently attended a fashion show, inspired by his dhoti-clad Byomkesh Bakshy look in the film, organised by college students in Mumbai on February 25. Sushant lent some of his old world charm to the fashion show and for once, Sushant didn't let just his good looks do the talking.

The normally reticent Sushant was rather vocal on the recent Censor Board developments in which a list of cuss words were recently declared off-limits for filmmakers and films like Badlapur, NH10 and Dum Laga Ke Haisha asked to edit abuses that appeared on the list out of their dialogues. Sushant said, "It's ironic that we complain about our films being escapist. If you guys are expecting us to live upto the expectations of being real, I don't think we need a censor for it."

He may make for a rather dashing detective in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, but with cricket fever spiralling due to the ongoing World Cup, Sushant's role of Team India captain MS Dhoni in Neeraj Pandey's biopic titled MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has everyone excited. Speaking about his role in the biopic set to release in October, Sushant said "I've been working on this film for the last 8 months. I am making all the efforts so that when you watch the film, you don't feel any visual jerk."

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, which stars Sushant as the eponymous Bengali sleuth solving his first case in colonial Calcutta, will release on April 3.

Actress Genelia D'Souza, who has been away from the big screen post her marriage to actor Riteish Deshmukh in 2012, says she is now ready to make a comeback in Bollywood and will focus on her acting career. Genelia was last seen in a cameo role in Salman Khan?s Jai Ho.

Genelia, who has starred in movies like Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, was present at a promotional event, when she was asked about her comeback to the film industry.

She said, "I don't think I ever left it, but yes I am on a break, I would love to be back, I would love to do something that makes me happy, that makes people happy and I am ready now for comeback."

Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh became parents to a son on November 25, 2014.

After getting recognised for her hit peppy numbers like “Baby doll”, “Lovely” and “Chittiyaan kalaiyaan”, singer Kanika Kapoor says she will now sing more of classical Indian numbers this year to popularise the genre in the Hindi film industry.

“I will bring the classical music back very soon…This year people will listen more of it from me. I have my Youtube channel coming up which will demonstrate some classical tracks which I’m creating,” Kanika told IANS.

The 33-year-old, who was here to shoot the music video of localised version of internationally known DJ Alesso’s single “Heroes (We Could Be)”, also said that the music trends are driven by the listeners.

Stressing on the fact that Indian classical is her “personal favourite”, she said: “It doesn’t mean that people should like it too. They have their own personal choice — some like classical, others like Sufi – it all depends on listeners’ choice.

“People who like classical don’t like the commercial tracks. Much of the Indian listeners are not aware of the classical songs and they feel happy being restricted to peppy ones. Music makes one happy, it destresses the mind. So, a typical genre doesn’t matter…it should be dependent on the listener and what he wants to listen.”

Kapoor also said the Indian music market has widened the scope for young singers to showcase their talent.

“Indian music industry has opened up to new singers. It has widened a lot. Earlier, there were only Lataji (Lata Mangeshkar), Ashaji (Asha Bhosle) and Alka Yagnikji, but now listeners look forward to listen to new singers,” she added.

However, she feels that the dominance of film music has made it tough for singers to come out with their own singles.

Recently, Kapoor received a positive response for her singles “Chhil Gaye Naina” and “Desi Look”, and soon she will be seen cheering up for the Indian cricket team, who are currently vying the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia, with her Hindi version of the song “Heroes (We Could Be)”, to be released by Universal Music India.

Talking about the track, she added: “It’s a fun version of the song that we have made for our cricket team. It will give moral support and strength to them. I hope that India retains the World Cup.”

Mumbai: Actress Pankhuri Awasthi, who is playing the title role in the forthcoming historical TV show "Razia Sultan", says Kamal Amrohi's 1983 eponymous film starring Hema Malini in the lead is her inspiration for the character.

Pankhuri was present at the launch of the show here recently when she was asked if she had taken any inspiration from actress Hema Malini.

To that, she said: "Definitely...the one good thing about the film is its songs. Mostly on sets, I usually hum the songs. It's a great relief and I definitely look up to her (Hema) for everything she has done in that movie. So, I'm drawing a lot of influences from there also."

Pankhuri says the role requires adequate preparation.

"This is a character of a princess, who becomes a Sultan. So, apart from body language, different aspects like horseriding, and even the way the character talks in the Urdu accent...we have been rehearsing and practicing that," she said of her preparations.

The period drama is based on the life of Razia Sultan, the first woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate.

The show also stars actors like Sooraj Thapar and Sambhavna Seth. It will go on air on new entertainment channel &TV from March 2.

Reason for his happiness being the fact that he has had the chance to shoot at the same place where his dear wife Aishwarya had shot for `Khakee` 12 years back.

New Delhi: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and evergreen beauty Rekha's alleged love story has been part of media speculation for years.

Now, the latest addition to the buzz surrounding the two megastars is the alleged statement doled out by Puneet Issar's wife .

According to reports in bollywoodlife, Deepali Issar in an interview to a magazine has said that Rekha wears sindoor for Big B.

The last time Rekha came face-face with Puneet was on the sets of `Bigg Boss 8` where she purposely chose to ignore him. As it is known, during the shooting of `Coolie`, Puneet had caused an injury (accidental) to Big B, which turned out to be extremely fatal.

It is said that Rekha-Amitabh's love started on the sets of `Do Anjane`. They did a series of films together after that.

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who almost always speaks her mind, has in one fell swoop commented on celebrity bad behaviour and paid a compliment to her Katti Batti co-star Imran Khan, all at once. (Also read - First Look: Kangana Ranaut in Katti Batti)

Kangana compared 'gentlemanly' Imran to other unnamed actors who she said bad-mouth actresses and throw on-set tantrums. In a recent interview to The Times of India , Kangana said, "In many ways, he is like me - naive, straightforward and sometimes a little unsure during a scene. After working with actors who scream on the sets, can't mind their language and run down other actresses in front of me, making me wonder if they do the same behind my back, gentlemanly Imran is a welcome relief."

Kangana, who starred in the acclaimed Queen last year, has made no secret of her admiration for Imran's uncle Aamir Khan. Like the PK actor, she gives award shows a wide berth, and wasn't at the recent Filmfare Awards to collect her Best Actress prize. Kangana plays the bohemian Payal in Katti Batti, opposite Imran's middle-class Maddy. Katti Batti, directed by Nikhil Advani, will release on September 18. Watch:

Much of the chatter going into the Oscars was about the lack of diversity in the Academy’s choices, specifically the dearth of nominations for ‘Selma’.

But while there were plenty of references to racial justice during the ceremony — drawing tears from the movie’s David Oyelowo at one point — issues mentioned in acceptance speeches ranged from suicide to Alzheimer’s and Lou Gehrig’s disease to wage equality for women.

IMMIGRATION
Sean Penn raised eyebrows with a reference he made to green cards in presenting the Oscarfor best picture to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for ‘Birdman’, but the two are friends and Inarritu interpreted the comment as a joke.

(Read: Birdman’ wins Best Picture at Oscars 2015)

“Who gave this son of a bitch his green card?” Penn said.
Inarritu, who is Mexican, hugged Penn warmly, and joked that the U.S. government might now impose immigration rules on the academy: “Two Mexicans in a row, that’s suspicious.” Alfonso Cuaron, another Mexican director, won for ‘Gravity’ last year.

On a serious note, he said, he hoped the “latest generation of immigrants … can be treated with the same dignity and respect of the ones who came before and built this incredible immigrant nation.”

ALS AND ALZHEIMER’S
In accepting the award for best actress for ‘Still Alice’, Julianne Moore said the movie shines a light on Alzheimer’s, saying, “People with Alzheimer’s deserve to be seen.” She also noted that Richard Glatzer, who directed and wrote it with Wash Westmoreland, has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Eddie Redmayne, accepting the best actor award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’, said: “This Oscar belongs to all of those people around the world battling ALS.”

SUICIDE
Graham Moore, who won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for ‘The Imitation Game’, said in his acceptance speech that he had tried to kill himself as a teenager.

“When I was 16, I tried to kill myself because I felt weird and I felt different and I felt like I did not belong,” he said. “I would like this moment to be for the kid out there who feels like she’s weird and different and feels like she doesn’t belong. … Yes, you do.”

Backstage, Moore said he saw the public moment as a rare opportunity for a writer and figured that “I might as well use it to say something meaningful.”

After having given us an intense venture like Haider, Shraddha Kapoor is all set to shake a leg with Varun Dhawan in her upcoming film ABCD 2. The venture is being directed by Remo D’souza and we hear the actress is working hard to get all her moves right.

These pictures surely prove the same! All work and no play will make Shraddha a dull girl. Hence, the beauty makes it a point to have some fun in between her rehearsals.

Ms Kapoor was seen posting a few pictures on her Instagram account where she is seen practising with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa sensation Lauren Gotlieb.

Going by the complex routines the actress is attempting, we bet Shraddha will be a pleasant sight to our sore eyes and will make quite an impression with her moves.

We have never really seen the actress shaking a leg before in any of her movies- Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, or Haider. The only glimpse we saw of her dancing talent was in Dance Basanti, from Ungli.

New Delhi: The summer season calls for a lot of bright colours and accessories, and since winter is fading with each passing day, it's time to revamp your accessory wardrobe with asymmetrical earrings and tribal necklaces.

Monika Pal Sood, founder of jewellery store Youshine, shares her fashion forecast for summer 2015 in terms of accessories:

* Asymmetrical earrings: Gone are the days of the humble gold stud or silver sleepers. These days, earrings are here to make us sit up and take note. From naughts and crosses to ear cuffs offset by a tiny stud, the summer of 2015 is all about contrast between less and more and mismatching.

* Layered Necklaces: Layering necklaces is one of the favourite trends at the moment. Every piece can be delicate and minimal on its own, but when layered together, it makes the perfect statement.

* Tribal Necklaces: If you're ready to take a walk on the tribal side yourself then this trend is for you. This accessory is a bit like the love child of a bib necklace and a futuristic metal collar, making it the perfect piece for grounding spring's floating, bold-colored frocks or adding earthy intrigue to an otherwise streamlined silhouette.

* Reflective sunglasses: This season, mirrored sunnies are ruling the land. Stars are dressing up their dressed-down off-duty looks with hologram-like pairs that shift in colour at every single angle. Best of all, they add that touch of cool to any outfit for any given occasion.

* Corset Belts: Call it a corset belt or a wide waist belt, this is certainly one of the coolest trend. Make sure a corset is paired with a long or midi dress and it’s done.

Los Angeles: 'Homeland' star Morena Baccarin has nabbed the female lead role in 'Deadpool', an action movie based on the Marvel character.

Baccarin, 35, was one of a handful of actresses shortlisted for the role of Reynolds' character's love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.

The film is based on a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Simon Kinberg is producing with Lauren Shuler Donner. On the film side, Baccarin will appear in Paul Feig's upcoming action-comedy 'Spy', opposite Melissa McCarthy.

It's The End, literally. Mumbai's Maratha Mandir cinema showed Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Bollywood's definitive romance, for the very last time this morning, 1009 weeks - almost 20 years - after it began playing on October 19, 1995. An audience of 210 watched the final show.

A statement from DDLJ makers Yash Raj Films read: "Post the 1000 week celebrations last December, the theatre had requested YRF to prepone the DDLJ morning show to 9:15 AM instead of 11:30 AM as it was becoming difficult for the cinema to accommodate multiple new releases every week with just 3 regular shows. Of course YRF obliged from Feb 13 2015. However, while the theatre management was happy to continue the film for as long as it continued to draw in the audiences, owing to logistical issues of their staff having to work inordinately long hours to accommodate an additional early morning show, it was mutually decided to end the films historic & record breaking run. After playing for 1009 uninterrupted weeks, the films unprecedented performance has come to an end at the Maratha Mandir. The film played out in the 9:15 AM show today for the last time at the theatre.

Maratha Mandir managing director Manoj Desai, however, told news agency IANS: "We have 1105 seats in one screen and out of which hardly 100 to 200 seats used to get occupied so it doesn't make sense to run it any longer."

The tickets for DDLJ were sold at Rs 20, Rs 17 and Rs 15 - much cheaper than the prices charged by multiplexes.

DDLJ's 1009-week uninterrupted run makes it the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema, a record previously held by 1975 blockbuster Sholay which ran in Mumbai's Minerva Theatre for five years. 'Maratha Mandir' and 'Evergreen DDLJ' are currently trending on Twitter.

On December 12, 2014, DDLJ completed 1000 weeks at the cinema. In October last year, reports suggested the film would be pulled from the single screen theatre after celebrating the 1000-week milestone but Mr Desai told IANS then, "We are not planning to remove DDLJ show. It was a false report. We have a DDLJ show daily at 11.30 am and on weekdays there is 40 to 50 per cent occupancy and on the weekend it runs houseful." (Also Read: Breathe. The show is produced by Siddhartha Basu of Big Synergy and SRK says they have been trying to come up with a product for a long time and somehow things fell in place with 'Sabse Shaana Kaun?', a format which is more about intuitiveness than knowledge as the contestant faces questions from people of different professions, ages and gender.

The actor says as someone who came from a normal background, he likes being a part of aspirational stories.

"I have always maintained that I come from a very common background like many other people in India. Sometimes some very special things happen to people, you become popular, famous and successful but you don't compartmentalise it. Salman Khan, who is currently shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, will fly down to Jodhpur next week for the final hearing of the black buck case. While the verdict on the case will be given on February 25, filmmaker Ranjeet Sharma today rolled his film Quaidi No. 210 which is based on the black buck poaching case. Well, when Bhai was sent to jail in 2006 for hunting two Chinkaras and a Black Buck, he stayed behind the bars for 72-hours and was identified as ‘Quaidi No. 210′. Hence the film’s title. What’s more is that Sharma has roped in Mahesh Saini who was SK’s jail inmate.

While talking to a leading tabloid, the director if Quaidi No. 210 also revealed said, “I’ve signed Salman’s driver, Harish Dhulani, and we will be using the same Gypsy he drove during the shikaar.”

Ranjeet Sharma is quite confident that his project won’t face any legal problems. “I’m a resident of Jodhpur, my paperwork is in order and I’ve taken all the necessary permissions. We will be shooting the courtroom scene on February 25, the day Salman’s verdict is expected,” added the filmmaker. Interestingly, the Being Human star is unaware about all this but Sharma isn’t worried. He told the tabloid, “It’s not a biopic so I don’t need his permission.”

In the film, Usmaan Khan will reprise Salman’s character as former pretty much looks like the latter. But who will play the female protagonist in the film? Well, Ranjeet Sharma has decided to bring on board two newcomers who will play Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif in his film. Whoa… in that case, all we can say is – best of luck Mr Sharma. We hope you do manage to finish this film without facing any hurdles
